Rock Lodge

I’ve now completed a couple of weeks’ work at Rock Lodge and I thought I should say more about it. It’s an old (for England) vineyard over 30 years old, initially planted by the father-in-law of one of the Plumpton College lecturers. The second field on the site is largely newly planted, and that’s where I’ve been doing so much work of putting in new end posts, on rows which are 1-3 years old. The soil is iron rich (red) and there are large patches of subterranean sandstone, which is close to the surface in some areas.
