Villefranche sur Saone

The afternoon followed with a quick walk around Villefranche, the “capital” of Beaujolais. This was charming, though I’m not convinced about that “special” gargoyle around the side of the church: is is really a goat having its wicked way with a nun? The locals think so.

Then dinner at a rather lovely restaurant, Restaurant Les Calad’in, owned by the family of one of our student hosts. More food and wine. Great! Though I’ve been having rather a lot…..
