Effervescents du Monde results

The results of Effervescents du Monde 2011 are out! (they were out yesterday, but it’s taken me this long to rip myself away from a thrilling Plumpton College vine pathology essay).

England’s best results were 4 silver medals for:

  • Gusbourne, English Sparkling Wine Blanc de Blancs, 2006
  • Furleigh Estate, Classic Cuvée Brut, 2009
  • RidgeView, Blomsbury, 2009
  • Nyetimber, Blanc de Blancs Brut, 2003

Well done guys!

I checked down the 13 wines occupying the “top10” in the competition results and I’m not sure any are the ones I judged myself, but I certainly tried a few during the after-judging free-for-all. It’s interesting how many Cremants are in that top group, though I’m left wondering if that would still be the case if the judging were not organised into flights of similar wines.
